RATIONALE FOR
DIGITAL PORTFOLIOS
The principles of the Weebly Student Portfolio project align to the "National Education Technology Plan (NETP), specifically the Activities to Support the Effective Use of Technology (Title IV A) of Every Student Succeeds Act as authorized by Congress in December 2015.”-NEPT
One of the most important aspects of technology in education is its ability to level the field of opportunity for students.” -John King, U.S. Secretary of Education
Acaemic Advisor Goal:
My vision is to have Alden-Hebron District 19 students become "Future Ready" global digital citizens. With the vision in mind, one of my College and Career Readiness goals this year was to have all students, grades 6-12, build online portfolios as a way to keep pace and be prepared for the future.
I believe that every student should maintain a digital portfolio that serves as a cloud-based storage strategy of their development and artifacts of accomplishment that is shareable and organized for presentation, develops college and career readiness, and creates a positive digital identity.

At the middle school level, these portfolios may be used for Student-Led Conferences and Parent Teacher Conferences. Above is a screen shot of what students can put in their portfolio each quarter. This includes: active work, reflection space (could also include feedback from teachers and peers), MAP growth, and goals for each quarter. The home page will contain an All About Me section that will be written in the Reading/ELA classroom. Please note that you may add as much as you like to this website-the possibilities are endless. My thoughts were to provide the basic set up and then teachers can customize for each of their subjects.😊
At the high school level, the portfolio is supported through an advisory program through the English and Senior Studies classes in which students create a personal statement, take a learning style inventory, answer questions, monitor high school credits and courses, explore college and career interests, store employment and resume information and artifacts, and practice habits of success. Ultimately, upon graduation, each student’s portfolio feeds a final product in which students tell the story of who they are, where they are headed, and how they will get there.
